LIBRARY CARD REGISTRATION

Question: Who can register for a Cenlib library card?

Answer: 

  • Undergraduate and postgraduate students, lecturers, researchers and staff at VNU-HCM;
  • Non-VNU-HCM users (eg. visitors, VNU-HCM alumni).

Question: What kind of documents I need to provide to the library? How long will I receive my card? 

Answer: Please provide your student card or staff card and National Identification or passport. 

You will receive your

  • Library card: on the day when you participate the library orientation or by an appointment if you are a new user; and in 5 working days if you re-register.
  • E-Partners Card: 20 working days from the registration day.

Question: Is it possible to use CenLib Library Card to access other librares at VNU-HCM?

Answer: Yes, you can use CenLib Library Card, student card and staff card to access all libraries at VNU-HCM library system. .

Question: Can I lend my library card to someone else?

Answer: No.Library cards issued to an individual may only be used by that individual. Borrowing/access privileges may be withdrawn if library members are found in breach of this. This term and condition is clearly stated on the back of the card. 

Question: How long does the library card expire?

Answer: Library cards expire every one year from the registration day. If the card is still in a good conditions, users can renew the card with a small charge as following: 

  • Students and staff at VNU-HCM: VND 25.000đ/year.
  • External users of VNU-HCM: VNU 50.000đ/year.

LIBRARY BORROWING

Question: How many items can I borrow and for how long? How much does it cost and what is a borrowing procedure?

Answer: You use Online Library Catalog to find library items. The catalog allows you to seach for books and other materials based on subjects, title, author, ISBN, ISSN,...

Answer: The library use DDC classification scheme to organise books on shelves. on an open shelf room.

Question: What should I do if the documents I need are already borrowed?

Answer: You can reserve a library iterm from the library website. You will receive an email alert if it is ready for collection. Please refer here for further information about reservation.

Question: Why I cannot locate a book that I found in the online catalog?

Answer: When you can't find a book after looking it up in the online catalog, one or more of the following reasons might apply: someone is currently using the book, it is placed on the wrong shelf, new arrivals might be on display shelves or missing. Please informa library staff at the circulation desk for further support.

Question: What if I lose or damage a book?

Answer: If you’ve lost or damaged one of library items, you need to pay fines of fees in accordance with library policies. Please click here for further information of fees and fines

Question: What should I do If I discovered the book borrowed has been damaged or lost some pages?

Answer: When you collect item from the library, if you foud the book has been damaged, you need to inform library staff to avoid any resposibility related to that damage. .

Question: Can I photocopy/scan materials in the library?

Answer: The library provides photocopy/scan service. Please contact library staff at the circulation desk to receive support.

PERIODICALS

Question: What should I do when I want to read periodicals that are archiving?

Answer: New newspapers and journals are displayed on a shelf in a periodical room on Level 1. If you want to read archiving periodicals, you need to contact library staff at the periodical room.

 

AUDIOVISUAL AND MULTIMEDIA MATERIALS

Question: Where can I borrow a CD with a book?

Answer: You can borrow a CD with a book at a Periodical ROom at CenLib.

Question: Can I bring a CD with a book home?

Answer: CD is for use at a library only. 

 

GROUP STUDY ROOM

Question: How can I book a group study room?

Answer:   You can book a group study room at a Circulation Desk or via a library website.

Question: Can I access Internet at the library?

Answer: The library has 2 computer labs providing Internet access for users. You can also use free library wifi at the library.

Question: How can I have an account to access library subscribed databases?
